Mexican artists featured alongside Banksy in Europe

Benuz and Juandrés Vera will show their work in Munich and Stockholm, together with Banksy and more than 50 artists

Pieces of art made by Benuz, regarded as a graffiti pioneer in Mexico, and Juandrés Vera, an urban artist whose work plays with viewer’s perspective, will be a part of Magic City: The Art of the Street, an exhibition that will take place in Munich on July, 27th.

The work of Benuz mystical pre-Columbian symbols into the present-day while incorporating influences of artists like José Guadalupe Posadas and Barry McGee.

Juandrés Vera’s murals utilize hyperrealism and three-dimensionality to talk about politics, religions, as well as everyday issues.

Alongside them, Magic City: The Art of the Street features more than 50 urban artists, including Banksy, Bordalo II, Blek le Rat, Dan Witz, Faith47, Herakut, Icy & Sot, Isaac Cordal, Mark Bode, Olek, Ori Carino, Roa, Ron English, Shepard Fairey, Tristan Eaton, Truly and Yok.

Besides murals, multimedia installations, 3-D art, photography, and miniatures, the exhibition promotes urban art through workshops, concerts and guided visits. Magic City: The Art of the Street will get to Stockholm on October 28.

Benuz y Juandres Vera mostrarán su obra en Múnich y Estocolmo junto a Banksy y más de 50 artistas

Piezas de Benuz, considerado uno de los pioneros del graffiti en México, y Juandres Vera, artista urbano que juega con la perspectiva, serán mostradas en la exposición Magic City: The Art of the Street que será celebrada el 27 de julio en Múnich.

El trabajo de Benuz trae a la actualidad símbolos místicos prehispánicos a la vez que incorpora influencias artísticas José Guadalupe Posadas y Barry McGee.

Los murales de Juandrés Vera son caracterizados por plasmar en ellos hiperrealismo y tridimensionalidad para hablar de temas políticos, sociales  y religiosos

A ellos se unen  más de 50 artistas urbanos, entre los que destacan Banksy, Bordalo II, Blek le Rat, Dan Witz, Faith47, Herakut, Icy & Sot, Isaac Cordal, Mark Bode, Olek, Ori Carino, Roa, Ron English, Shepard Fairey, Tristan Eaton, Truly, y Yok.

Aunada a la exhibición de murales, instalaciones multimedia, arte en 3D, fotografía y miniaturas, Magic City promueve el arte urbano a través de talleres, conciertos y visitas guiadas. La muestra llegará a Estocolmo el 28 de octubre de este año.

Young New Yorkers seeks funding for philanthropic projects

On May 10th, the Young New Yorkers (YNY) auction featured artworks by 180 artists, including Shepard Fairey and Kara Walker. The objective of the event was to promote the artistic projects that YNY develops for young people to involve them in cultural activities and eradicate the violence they witness in the different places they reside.

Celebrities like Michael K. Williams – who is rumored to be Barack Obama’s favorite actor – attended the auction. Williams is very interested in fostering a new culture against violence; he also exhibited his work at the auction.

“L.I.C. (Long Island City)” by UR New York

Among the artists whose pieces were auctioned was the “unknown” artist from Chinatown, Hanksy; the photographer, filmmaker and creator Sina Basila; the designer and muralist Lawrence Ciarallo; the project Cash For Your Warhol, among others.
