This quarantine served many artists to channel their energies to create. Thus, Banksy presented a new piece entitled Rat Bathroom Installation from his confinement at home.
It seems these small rats occupied the artist’s bathroom as an installation. Moreover, these small furry animals prowl the sink, the toilet, jump on the toilet paper and crush the toothpaste; they seem to be looking to end it all.
The social distancing that the world is experiencing serves as an alibi for the iconic rats to come out and have a blast. In addition, it represents the urgency for a radical change in the way we interact with nature.
One of the rat’s reflections portrays the number of days in quarantine on a wall. Now it is us who are locked in our own “sewers.” Oh the irony! After his last piece at the end of February, in Bristol, the artist proposes a new vision of street art behind closed doors and with spectators who see the work through their phone screen.
Furthermore, Banksy subtitled his piece My wife hates it when I work from home, as a fun way to allude to his lockdown. And while working from home or in lockdown can be torture for some, it might be the most productive time for others.
The artist posted five images of his piece on his official Instagram account. Lastly, don’t forget to follow us to learn more about street art and art around the world.
