Mattel and Artestar will create decks by different artists, starting with Basquiat’s Uno
Mattel and Artestar have teamed up to launch a special edition Uno with Basquiat’s pieces. This deck presents a different artwork by the painter on each of its cards, maintaining the same concept of the game.
This initiative seems to be the first step to include the artworks of more artists in other decks. So these editions of Uno can become a complete collection rarity.
Despite this, the dynamics of the deck is the same as the original game of Uno, only this time, they’ll include art. Another very notable difference is the number of cards: the main edition of Uno has 108 cards.
However, this edition has 120 cards showing different artworks by Jean-Michel Basquiat. Some of these on individual cards and others that form a puzzle of four per artwork.
In addition, these have a premium linen finish, as well as an exclusive packaging. And the extras feature larger artworks which are collectible.
As mentioned, this seems to be Mattel’s first step to implement art on board games. And a deck is the right thing to do, as it doesn’t take up much space and literally displays the artworks. Now it is necessary to see the results of this edition and wait for other artists in letters of Uno
Lastly, the final price of this game is $20, which is not much higher than the normal price of Uno. It’s not expensive, and it should be noted that this edition can be found for sale at Macy’s.
