Jimi Hendrix immortalized in Moebius’ illustrations

Moebius is an illustrator and creator of the series Electric Emotions. Namely, he depicts the musical environment of the rock icon, Jimi Hendrix. As a result, a psychedelic cocktail made of 60’s rock and roll and illustration emerges.

Hendrix’s career, as well as his LSD “experimentation,” not only changed the rock scene but ended his life in 1970.

Hendrix: the guitar king

Jimi Hendrix had a ritual before going on stage. Firstly he placed LSD on his forehead, then cover it with a handkerchief and lastly went out to play. However, it is a myth, that until now has not been confirmed or denied.

Hendrix expanded the vocabulary of the guitar like no other, therefore constructing a unique world of sound with it.

Psychedelic illustrations

Moebius is considered one of the great illustrators of the last century. His work is the product of an experimental calling that reformulated the dialogue of comics with avant-garde currents.

He illustrates Hendrix’s music through comics and 60’s rock. These combinations result in a far out series of images with all the musical details perceived by the ears.

In the illustrations, Hendrix is a sorcerer who mocks the physical laws that cloister the imagination. His music transports people to other worlds where they can fly, walk, swim and even dissolve.

Each note that emerges from his guitar strikes like a waft of smoke, smoke that rises consistently, creating figures with bodies and life of their own.

Organisms come and go, extending their tentacles, wings, scales in multicolor scenes, allowing us to observe all the creatures and objects surrounding him.

Moebius’ artworks are well known, especially for his work with Alejandro Jodorowsky, which has a vast experimental universe.
