Thierry Guette, better known in the world of street art as Mr. Brainwash, is a French artist that landed in the world of street art by accident.
His beginnings date back to 1999 when he was a videographer. Hence, he managed to document the life and work of artists such as Shepard Fairey and Banksy. Thus, it gave him the opportunity to be part of that documentary work that we all know Exit Through the Gift Shop.
From then on, the street art universe captured him and he began to paint his early works. As a result, his body of work soon began to attract the attention of fans and art (as well as street art) critics.
If we could define his style in a word, taking into account the great influence that artists like Banksy had on him, we’d say it is “subversive.” In his interventions, we see pop culture personalities in ironic situations.
In addition, these images are created with a graffiti and stencil technique. Notably, his pieces have reached various corners of the world, catching the attention of collectors and art galleries interested in exhibiting his work.
His appeal to street art sprung from the adrenaline he felt when pasting mosaics all over Paris with his cousin Invader. Moreover, his first show was entitled Life is Beautiful with hundreds of pieces, created by a team of graphic designers led with Guetta.
Finally, the artist continues producing pieces, which you can view on his website or Instagram.
