The activities of this festival culminated successfully; here’s a recap so you can check out all the murals
As we mentioned in a previous installment the city of Tudela was the epicenter where Mina Hamada, Miss Van, and Jeff McCreight ‘Ru8icon’ embodied their art at the Avant Garde Tudela 2020 Festival. Hence, check out our recap of the best of this event and, of course, a look at the murals.
7th edition of Avant Garde Tudela
First, this seventh edition was full of colors and textures; three impressive pieces were added to the 21 existing previous editions. Moreover, this is thanks to Jorge Rodríguez-Gerada and Tudela-Cultura, who organized this year’s edition.
Miss Vans “Las Gitanas”
Secondly, we should point out the extraordinary work of the guest artists who made fascinating pieces, such as Miss Van and her mural Las Gitanas. In this piece, we see two feminine silhouettes with the features that distinguish the French artist’s characters so much.
Additionally, the two women are dressed in light dresses, soft colors, and flowery prints. One of them has chestnut hair, while the other wears a hat on top of her white hair. In the background, you can see a thick brown plain that has as its background a deep sky of gray and white clouds in what looks like a sunset.
Also, we have the work of Mina Hamada that inspired the local environment of Tudela. Thus, she used her abstract and colorful language to represent wind, water, local flowers, and plants as simplified and abstract forms.
For the artist, “this mural is an open field for our personal interpretation of the objects we are contemplating, depending on our personal mood.” Hence, if we look at the piece, we can find a vast natural landscape full of geometries.
Furthermore, American artist Jeff McCreight “Ru8icon” painted a mural that evokes the figure of two children jumping in the water. His expressions reflect the imminent fear of the unknown. But, at the same time, it is also a reflection of freedom.
In addition, the piece also celebrates the beauty and diversity of the natural landscape regarding Tudela. Lastly, check out the photographs above of this seventh edition. Remember that ROA recently created a piece at the Museum of the University of Ghent. It was amazing!
