The Wunderkammer collection that Olafur Eliasson launched is a new proposal to live art
Danish-Islandic artist Olafur Eliasson launched a proposal called Wunderkammer seeking to connect the viewer with art in a more dynamic and interactive way. This resulted from the current confinement conditions in which we find ourselves.
To do this, the artist worked with the art production platform VR & AR with who built the Acute Art app to give us this incredible collection of pieces. Thus, the exhibition consists of natural elements, small artworks, and experiments from the artist’s studio.
Hence, the first step will be to install the app from Playstore on your cell phone. Artworks are available for free in-app download. Moreover, you’re probably wondering what kind of works you’ll find.
The low down is that the artworks represent natural elements such as a bright sun, a bright rainbow, and a cloud from which rain falls. Additionally, you’ll find a harmless and friendly puffin, a floating compass; a flying insect, a lucky stone, the northern lights, flowers, and a little sun.
“All elements of the Wunderkammer play a role in my life. Some are objects that we normally take for granted, and I think they should be celebrated as the wonders they actually are. Other elements of the collection will be more experimental, such as light sculptures and objects that are invisible to the eye,” explains the artist.
In addition, the artist used augmented reality to create extraterrestrial rocks and rare animals that viewers can obtain to create their own personal space. Finally, Acute Art also collaborated with Kaws on the creation of a similar project but with the artist’s iconic sculptures.
