Madrid becomes the capital of art with Urvanity Art installations on its main squares
Previously, we told you what you couldn’t miss at this festival. Now it’s time to talk about the Urvanity installations that have landed on the streets of Madrid.
Therefore, it should be noted that one of the main purposes of Urvanity Art is to take over public spaces to bring art to all the inhabitants of the city. Thus, take art out of conventional spaces, such as galleries or museums. Here are the hottest installations so far!
Installations take over Madrid
First off, we will highlight Dunja Jankovic in the Plaza de San Ildefonso. There are three pieces with cylindrical and circular shapes where the public can place their face and interact with the artworks. Jankovic’s work includes comics, collages, screen printing, and site-specific installations.
Then, we have Samuel Salcedo’s Pinball Wizard. The fascinating sculptures placed on the Plaza de Juan Goytisolo made of aluminum and bronze depict faces with different expressions. Thus, a way to emphasize the masked nature of human beings.
Salcedo holds a Bachelor in Fine Arts, and he studied at the University of Barcelona and at Manchester Metropolitan University. His work has been exhibited at international fairs and galleries. He is also an active member of 3 Punts Gallery.
In Abel Iglesias’ new installation for Urvanity, abstraction explores his futuristic vision of the management and design of spaces. His sculpture plays with the shapes and possibilities of a steel cube installed in the Plaza de Callao.
In addition, Abel is an artist linked to graffiti from his beginnings. However, during his creative process, he merges various disciplines such as ceramics, industrial design, murals, pieces of furniture, etc.
