Illustrator Yoshitaka Amano, the Final Fantasy artist, released a special cover for Vogue Italy. Hence, confirming that the world of video games and the fashion industry are not as distant as we thought.
This cover belongs to the first issue of the year by the fashion magazine which has seven versions. Each one was created by different artists around fashion, simulating a classic Vogue cover photograph.
The main intention of the collection is to feature the importance of fashion illustration in the digital age.
The artists who collaborated on this mixed cover are David Salle, Vanessa Beecroft, Delphine Desane, Cassi A. Namoda, Milo Manara and Paolo Ventura. Additionally, Yoshitaka Amano portrayed Lindsey Wixson-Young in a blue Gucci dress.
This last cover reflects the versatility of the illustrator and his career in video games. Especially for one of the most beloved fantasy franchises of all time.
Additionally, thanks to this artwork, Vogue was able to save much of its monthly budget. This includes the interiors, whose graphics were produced by the artists involved in the project.
According to magazine reports, the savings will be donated to the Querini Stampalia Foundation in Venice. Thus aiding to repair the damage made to the recent floods in the Italian city.
But that’s not all: it’s the first time in 55 years that a Vogue cover is illustrated. Hence, a very special year for the industry.
Each illustration is now on sale with its respective magazine to create a small collection. It is worth mentioning that each volume can be purchased for 5 euros.
