Arcade1 Up and NBA Jam have announced the release of an arcade cabinet with the classic basketball game. This is definitely a blast from the past: having your own arcade-style cabinet in the comfort of your own home.

This news is bound to make your inner child ecstatic, especially if you grew up in the nineties when you got a few quarters to spend on the games. Back then it was the dream of many to be able to have one in their own homes. Well, now it can be a reality thanks to this release that you can pre-order.

The arcade cabinet is 57.8 inches tall and has a panel with four joysticks and buttons. Its retro style shows original illustrations of the first NBA Jam arcade cabinet. This reinforces the nineties essence of playing arcade games with friends in the evenings.

But that’s not all, as it adds a more modern experience with different add-ons. Among these is the 17-inch full-color LCD screen and adjustable dual speakers, as well as a WiFi connection, becoming the first arcade cabinet to feature this wireless network.

And yes, as you might have expected, the WiFi will enable you to play online with other competitors with the same cabinet, extending the hours of fun with this sports videogame.

Thus far, we know that the machine will have three video games: NBA Jam Original, the 1994 sequel, and the 1996 NBA Hangtime. And, fingers crossed, with the WiFi connection other titles can be added to the catalog.

The price is set at $500 and is currently on pre-sale, and the official launch is set for the middle of the year with more news to come.
