A collaboration of the Adidas Superstar silhouette is cooking with Run-DMC
Adidas celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Superstar silhouette with Run-DMC, just as it did in 2005. The only difference is that this new release will have a three-color variation: black, white and red.
Without a doubt, one of the models of sneakers when talking about rap are the classic Superstar from adidas. And, when it comes to the brand and hip-hop culture, Run-DMC are the personification.
They popularized this silhouette in 1986 with the release of the song My Adidas with an amazing beat and fast lyrics. Thus, hip-hop culture began to relate the Superstars with the coolness of the rapper style.
These sneakers began their original production in 1969 as a low-top model of the basketball pro model. They kept the brand’s stripes and the base design with a semi-round cut at the tip.
For this anniversary collection, there will be three color variations. According to Sneaker Bar Detroit, they’re red, black and white, representing the members of the group. Each one with quirky details such as the group logo and the faces of Jam Master Jay, Run and D.M.C. In addition, they’re expected to be released sometime in April for (only) $150 dollars.
But this is not the first collaboration that the hip hop royalty has with the brand. In 2005, to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the same silhouette, 35 commemorative models were released. They included a series and, of course, a pair dedicated to Run-DMC.
Now all we have to do is wait for the official release date by adidas while jamming to My Adidas.
