In Asteraceae, we will find part of the artist’s creative potential, because there are more expressive pieces created with various means. For example, artist paper collages; bulk printing; screen printing, and painting applied to different surfaces, such as found objects, canvases, or paper.

Moreover, SWOON will also release a stop-motion animated film that she worked on for the last few years. In addition, each of the artworks reflect the artist’s personal experiences and her relationship to the social and natural environment.

Thus, Asteraceae reveals images with a high symbolic and emotional charge; colorful vignettes, both delicate and powerful, which make up a poetic reflection imbued with strong emotions. Universal feelings that weave an interactive dialectic between the artwork and spectator.

“Lately I’ve been enjoying drawing dandelions and, as this is my first exhibition in Portugal, my feeling in sending my pieces is like being a dandelion that sends those little wind-carried seeds. It’s like my first greeting to Portugal,” she said in a statement.

Furthermore, the artist also explains that the body of work for this exhibition is a kind of somatization of emotions because “there are many portraits of my parents and grandparents in this selection of works. Dealing with death and loss has been fundamental to my work over the last few years.”
